PADI Advanced Open Water Course
If you would like to continue with your training, this is the perfect opportunity to learn about some of the special and exciting types of dives available. The PADI Advanced Open Water Course builds experience and understanding of diving, and is designed to be taken directly after completion of the Open Water course. The term "Advanced" is often misinterpreted, as this course is simply advanced training for Open Water divers.
You may want to look for lost items, take pictures under water, or visit your favourite dive site at night. Your Advanced Course with KennaEcoDiving will give you the experience of some of the most popular diving activities, as well as developing skills that will allow your dives to be safer and more enjoyable. This course improves your under water skills, providing you with a sample of specialty diving activities, however the extent and term of each differs to accommodate your interests. You must hold either the PADI Open Water certification or a similar certification from another federation and be at least 15 years of age.
The course involves three "core" dives - a navigation dive, a deep dive and a night/cave dive - and two "elective" dives which you will select with the help of your PADI instructor. These elective dives are based on specialties as diverse as Wreck Diving, Underwater Photography, and Drift Diving. You can complete this course in as few as 2 days. This is ideal for open water divers who want to continue their training during their holiday break.

Ecology and Underwater Photography Course
This five dive course will provide any valid qualified diver with an introduction to Eco Diving and is an opportunity for those who may be unsure about joining our Eco Dive Volunteer Programme to learn about coastal ecosystems. The course will include marine ecology and underwater photography.
Each dive will focus on a different type of Mediterranean coastal habitat and look at how specific species are adapted to living there and the role that they play in the ecosystem:
-
shallow algae-rich environment
-
seagrass meadow ecosystems
-
cave communities
-
rocky wall inhabitants
-
deeper sea life (<18 meters)
The five dives will also include beginner level tuition and practice in underwater digital photography. You will be able to try out your skills and gain information that will help you decide when considering purchasing an underwater housing for or upgrading your digital camera to use underwater. You will be guided to take normal range and macro shots of many colourful subjects to learn about the available camera features for simple point and shoot underwater photography. (See Underwater Photography page for some tips and examples.) You will be able to keep a lasting photo record of your memories and will earn an Eco Diver Level I Certificate.
The Ecology and Underwater Photography Course costs €150 including an introduction to habitats and ecosystems, five guided ecology dives, underwater photography tuition, an e-copy of the underwater photographs that you have taken and certification.
