Read marine news, tell us about your diving experiences & have your say on marine conservation issues on the ScubaBlog
We are scuba divers who care about preserving the oceans for the health of our planet - for the sake of all life on earth and for future generations of divers to enjoy. We are volunteers, actively engaged in marine conservation research and also carry out awareness-raising activities locally and via the internet.
We arrrange scuba diving and activity holidays and offer discount diving equipment in order to support our main objective: to carry out marine conservation research as volunteers for the SILMAR Project. We are voluntary coordinators for the SILMAR Project, taking responsibility for two research stations near L'Escala, where we collect marine data to help inform local coastal planning and the conservation of priority habitats like the Posidonia oceanica beds.
We dive as volunteers during the months of May to October each year assisted by other dive volunteers who come from all over the world to help with the Silmar research. We also carry out regular cleanup dives and log that data for Project AWARE.
We are members of OCEAN2012 - an organisation working towards ending overfishing by European fleets via a new Common Fisheries Policy, and Shark Alliance - which seeks to protect sharks and regulate shark finning.
